New Pergola for WHS Outdoor Classroom

Senior Marshall Peyton dedicated his Eagle Scout project to building a pergola for the WHS Outdoor Classroom. With funding from the Foundation & the hard work of Marshall & his crew, high school students will enjoy the new pergola for years to come. Thank you, Marshall!

WHS Sociology Class Field Trip to Cincinnati Museum Center

With support from the Foundation, Ms. Anderson's Sociology class attended the exhibit 'Girlhood: It's Complicated' which aligned with the curriculum's core concepts of primary and secondary socialization. Students shared that it was an "amazing experience" that provided "a lot of perspective."

WHS Meet the Author - Emma Carlson Berne, WHS Class of 1997

The Foundation was thrilled to provide WHS students with books for the Meet the Author program. Local author & 1997 WHS grad Emma Carlson Berne visited with over 20 students interested in reading, writing, illustrating, and publishing.

Books for the WMS English Department

The Foundation was pleased to provide 13 new titles for the 6th grade English students. Angie Arengo's 6th graders are so excited to read the new books, there is already a waiting list!

WHS Just Write Team Places at Regional Competition

The Wyoming School Foundation was proud to fund the WHS Just Write team to attend the regional competition in Xenia. Just Write is a multi-state interscholastic creative writing program. Coached by teachers Denise Griggs and Danica White, our writers represented Wyoming City Schools well. The 9th & 10th grade team won the Top Division 1 school title!

Senior DC Trip 2023

Every year, the Foundation provides financial assistance to ensure all senior students can attend their class trip to Washington DC.

HOPE Outdoor Classroom

In an effort to connect students with the outdoor environment, the 2023 seniors in Club HOPE (Help Our Planet Earth) built an outdoor classroom with help from the Foundation.

WMS Students with New PE Equipment

WMS students will enjoy brand new sports equipment with support from the Foundation.

CHL League Chess Tournament at St X - Winners - Feb 2023

The WMS Chess Club is excited to use new chess sets and clocks thanks to a grant from the Foundation's Class of 1957 Memorial Fund.

WHS Marching Band

The WHS Marching Band & Drumline will benefit from percussion equipment replacements over the next 2 years with funding from the Foundation and support from the Albert V. & Dorothy Lang Family Endowment and the Judy Hand Memorial Endowment Fund.

Vermont Primary Students Enjoy Every Cowboy Counts!

Every Cowboy Counts is a yearlong program that increases awareness for all students about disabilities. The Foundation was pleased to provide funds with help from the Daniel R. McGlynn Memorial Endowment Fund to purchase books for each primary school & staff members to support this program.

Carol Beeson Memorial Education Scholarship
$2,500

Established in memory and honor of Carol Beeson and her passion for community and education.

Eligibility:

Achieve a 3.0 GPA
Pursuing a degree in Education

Dorothy F. Mantel Scholarship
$3,000

Established in memory of

Dorothy F. Mantel.

Eligibility:

Outstanding academic performance
Demonstrates care about the school and school environment as evidenced by interest and contributions that have made a positive difference in school

Fred S. Dewey, Jr Scholarship
2 x $1,000

Established in memory of Fred S. Dewey, Jr., WHS class of 1932 for his service to his country during WWII. Awarded to

1 female and 1 male student.

Eligibility:

Exemplifies dedication to multiple sports
Demonstrates leadership as a student, character displayed in the athletic venues as well as in the community
High academic achievement

Lily Parker Go the Distance Scholarship
2 x $2,500

Established to recognize cross-country athletes who best exemplify the spirit of the sport and the life lessons it teaches.

Awarded to

1 female and 1 male student.

Eligibility:

Participate in the WHS Cross Country program for at least 3 years including senior year
Achieve a cumulative GPA within the top half of the class

Lin Y.S. Lin Family Education Scholarship
4 x $4,000

Established by the Lin Family who places a high value on good education.

Awarded to 4 students.

Eligibility:

Achieve a benchmark GPA

Richard M. Glover Scholarship
$2,000

Established in memory and honor of Richard M. Glover, whose 12 years of service on the Wyoming City Schools Board of Education led to lasting changes in our District.

Eligibility:

Demonstrates perseverance and dedication to learning
Exemplifies hard work and commitment to achieving academic and other related goals

Tink Miller "Most Dedicated" Wrestling Scholarship
$1,000

Established in honor of Tink Miller, WHS wrestling coach from 1971-75, and his lifelong impact to the wrestling program.

Eligibility:

Participates in the WHS wrestling program
Demonstrates dedication, determination, and a love of wrestling

Virginia B. Gridley Education Scholarship
$1,000

Established in honor Virginia Gridley and her 23 years of service to the Wyoming School District as a teacher and librarian.

Eligibilitiy:

Achive a 3.0 GPA
Pursuing a degree in Education

Wyoming Legends of Golf Scholarship
2 x $1,000

Established to recognize and reward young golfers from the Wyoming community who are inspired by past & present Wyoming Legends.

Awarded to

1 female and 1 male student.

Eligibility:

Has made significant contributions to the game of golf, therefore enriching our community

WHS Alumni Association Scholarships

For all WHSAA senior awards, an eligible student must:

Be a senior enrolled at WHS as of May 1st of their graduating school year.
Embody the mission of the Wyoming City Schools by being positive contributors to society both inside and outside of school.
Demonstrate a financial hardship and need to help with post-secondary expenses.

Where applicable, additional eligibility criteria is listed below.
